HOCKEY: Dalston edge out Kirkby Lonsdale in Cumbria Women's League

Cumbria Women’s Hockey League Dalston 3 Kirkby Lonsdale 2 Dalston took the points in this close match which was played at Wigton due to pitch damage at Dalston.

Kirkby Lonsdale opened the scoring with a goal from Catherine Simons after 10 minutes, but Dalston replied by sneaking in a goal round Kirkby’s goalkeeper to bring the scores level.

Kirkby put a lot of pressure on in Dalston’s half but it was Dalston who took the lead, firing in a goal from the top of the D before half-time.

In the second half again Kirkby had most of the possession, but Dalston countered again and extended their lead to 3-1.

Sally Broom reduced arrears after some excellent play by Simons, Sarah Robinson and Sally Scott, but despite late pressure Dalston took the spoils and a 3-2 victory.
