KENDAL blooded several aspiring young cricketers in Sunday's Cockspur Cup-tie at Fleetwood, the ECB national knock-out competition that once took the Shap Road men to Lord's.

Choosing to bat, the visitors were quickly struggling and were only saved from total collapse by Terry Hunte, who came in in the third over and was seventh man out for 45 out of a total of 88 all out off 33 of the allotted 45 overs.

Teenager Dan George (15no) was the only other batsman to reach double figures in the innings as T. Blundell (4-17) and R. Ritchies (4-20) carved up the bowling honours for Fleetwood.

It did not appear a lost cause for Kendal when they reduced Fleetwood to 24-3 in 11 overs, James Rafferty (2-14) removing both openers, including a caught and bowled chance to get rid of M. Dewhurst for nought.

Fleetwood can call upon plenty of experienced batsmen, however, and M.

Clinning (36no) and J. Wright (26) put them back on course for victory at 94-5 in 26 overs.
