THE tapes will fly up for the first time at Carlisle Racecourse in 2010 on Wednesday, February 10.
With so many fixtures lost to the wintry weather all over Britain during January, the Cumbrian track was probably fortunate in having no meetings scheduled.
However, the racecourse does need temperatures to rise as there are frozen areas on the turf currently.
Carlisle Racecourse's managing director John Baker said: "Jump racing has been hit hard in the last few weeks, with many fixtures called off because of the ice and snow. We hope to get going next Wednesday."
The feature event of the afternoon is the £10,000 Weatherbys Bloodstock Insurance Novices' Chase.
The two-mile race may see the appearance of northern trainer Howard Johnson's Cheltenham Festival prospect Door Boy.
Owned by Andrea and Graham Wylie, the seven-year-old is unbeaten over fences.
The opening race on Wednesday is at 1.35pm.
Jump racing fixtures coming up: Wednesday, February 10 - Afternoon racing Monday, February 22 - Afternoon racing Thursday, March 11 - Afternoon racing Sunday, March 21 - Sporting Champions family day Friday, March 26 - Afternoon racing Easter Saturday, April 3 - Easter family fun day
