Coronation Street star takes break at top Lake District hotel

CELEBRITY Kym Marsh swapped her hectic lifestyle for several days fresh air and pampering in the Lake District.

The Coronation Street star was taken to the picturesque Lakeside hotel, near Newby Bridge, by fiancee Jamie Lomas for spa treatments and romantic walks along the river.

She said after several months filming, singing on ITV1 show Popstar to Operastar and undergoing a revealing interview with Piers Morgan she needed a few days to “do nothing”.

“When you’re in the public eye it can all get a bit too much,” said the actress, who plays Coronation Street’s notorious barmaid Michelle Connor. “After a warts-and-all interview I was glad to get away.”

“I’ve been pampered and getting lots of amazing food so I’ll be rested and ready when I go back home,” she said.

The soap star left her two children with their dad, Dave Cunliffe, in Manchester.

The pair are not the first Coronation Street stars to visit the hotel - Simon Gregson, who plays Steve McDonald, recommended the retreat after previous visits to the Lake District.

Hotel senior manager Jonathan Robb said it was a pleasure to welcome a new member of the cast to the popular getaway so soon after it had reopened by TV weatherman Fred Talbot on Friday 12 March.

“It’s great to have such a lovely personality like Kym staying with us,” said MR Robb.

“When flooding forced us to close in November we weren’t sure how long it would take for us to get back on our feet.”

Selected guests were invited to the re-opening of the four star hotel and enjoyed a ‘Christmas in March’ event with all the trimmings.
