CUMBRIA’S primary care trust has been given a clean bill of health by regulators.

NHS Cumbria is meeting essential standards of quality and safety in the services it provides, according to the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The CQC’s inspection covered specialist NHS dental services, GP-led rehabilitation and assessment units, community hospitals, nursing and other primary care services in Cumbria.

Dr John Howarth, a clinical director at NHS Cumbria, said: “Patient safety is of paramount importance and we are delighted with this positive verdict on the quality of primary care services in Cumbria.

“There will be no resting on laurels and over the next 12 months we will be working even harder to deliver more high quality health services, closer to home."
