STAVELEY residents have shown their support for a ban on dogs using the village park.
A show of hands at a well-attended annual meeting of Staveley Village Association indicated that a “substantial majority” of those present would be against dogs using the Recreation Ground.
Other suggestions discussed during the dog fouling debate included a ban in the winter months, a requirement for owners to keep their pets on a lead and the provision of a dog toilet and waste bins.
The SVA will continue to consult residents, Staveley with Ings Parish Council and South Lakeland District Council before a decision is made.
John Barwise, SLDC’s environmental enforcement officer, explained the authority’s approach to the control of dogs in public parks during the meeting.
