IT’S all-systems-go for the Davis & Bowring Vale of Lune Point-to-Point at Whittington Racecourse on Easter Saturday.
An extra event for four-year-olds has been added to this year’s card, meaning the public can enjoy two pony races and seven horse races. Around 12,000 people are expected to attend the meeting.
Chairman of the track Mike Bowker said: “For some people it’s the first event out of the year. The weather is starting to come nice and it really signals that spring is arriving.
“We are very well on the way preparing for the meeting. Everything’s on track, a lot of work has gone in and it’s looking good.”
“We’re hoping that last week’s Cheltenham Festival will give people a taste for horse-racing and that they’ll come along on Easter Saturday.”
Other attractions on offer at the meeting include fairground rides and food stalls, and tickets cost £25 per car.
The pony races commence at 1p.m. and the horse-racing kicks off at 2p.m, before finishing with the Vale of Lune & Holcombe Joint Members Race at 5.45p.m.
The meeting, which has been held at Whittington since 1936, is offering a full refund of the entry fee to all owners that run their horses on Easter Saturday to thank them for supporting the event.
