Generous people across Cumbria have helped raise more than £70,000 from brewing up to help local cancer patients.
The figure, which has just been revealed, was part of the £8m raised nationally from the 2009 World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Fundraising manager Sue McDonald said “Thank you so much to everyone in the county who put the kettle on and got involved. There are two million of us currently living with a cancer diagnosis in the UK. Every penny you raised for Macmillan in 2009 will help fund more of our vital services and improve lives. And for that, we think you should feel good.”
“If anyone held a coffee morning and has not paid their money in yet, it’s not too late and every penny really does count”
The money raised through World’s Biggest Coffee Morning helps the charity to continue to make a difference to the lives of people affected by cancer.
The date for the diary this year is Friday 24 September but people can still be a part of it and hold their event on a date more suitable to them.
