KIRKBY Lonsdale showed no mercy for Westmorland League First Division side Victoria SC as they hammered them 11-0 in the second round of the Westmorland Senior Cup.

The North Lancashire League Premier Division leaders made the breakthrough in the first minute with Chris Vincent opening the scoring. After that goals followed at regular intervals through Brian Pennington (2), Steve Chapman (2), Yaffa Bojang (2) and substitute Mark Rendall (4).

In the Premier Division, Ingleton moved several places up the table with a 3-1 win over Caton United. Paul Bruce, Ben Jackson and Jonathen Boadle scored the goals that drop Caton into the relegation places.

Boys Club moved out of the drop zone by beating bottom club Arnside 4-0, including an opening goal that was a 30-yard lob over the keeper.

Allithwaite Rangers went out of the Holdens Solicitors/ Whiteside First Division Cup, beaten 2-0 by Slyne-Hest.

In the league, unbeaten Swarthmoor Social Club edged out third-placed Vine 4-3.

On 89 minutes the score was tied at 2-2, then the fireworks started.

Vine scored what looked likely to be the winner, but Swarthmoor immediately equalised with Graham Wilcock's second goal.

From the restart Swarthmoor dispossessed a Vine player and headed for goal where an unlucky defender netted his attempted clearance.

Ryan Lackey scored Swarthmoor's opening goal.

Cartmel Reserves had to work hard to overcome a stubborn Millhead side 2-0, Andy Lord and Tim Brooker scoring the goals.

Burton Thistle were 3-0 down to Torrisholme at half-time then staged something of a comeback with goals by Mark Smith and Chris Taylor.

Torrisholme then took control, however, and scored twice for a 5-2 result.

Holme Athletic lost 4-1 to Community Sports, who moved up to fourth as a result of the victory. After an even first half Community Sports ran away with the game, although Robert Brockle-bank's strike for Holme was the goal of the game.

Leaders Bentham boosted their goal difference in Division Two by thrashing a poor Caton Reserves side 13-3. Gary Louth led the way with four goals followed by Ben Dawson (2), Danny Ellershaw (2) Dave Knapp (2), Trevor Whieldon, Paul Lister and Danny Murray.

Lowly Arnside Reserves gave fourth-placed More-cambe Hoops a scare before losing 2-1. John Higgins scored the Arnside goal, but the side considered themselves very unlucky to get a draw out of the match.

Swarthmoor Reserves had an excellent 2-0 win over an experienced Freehold side with goals by Dave Tomszco and Will Walker.

There was a titanic struggle between Millhead Reserves and Highgrove Reserves in the Parkinson/Collegian Third Division Cup.

The lead changed hands several times before Highgrove ran out 4-3 winners with extra-time looming.

Tom Burrow (2) and Matthew Sprules were the Millhead goalscorers.

Carnforth Rangers maintained their 100 per cent league record by beating Burton Thistle Reserves 8-1. Seamus Gorton scored a superb hat-trick. Other Carnforth scorers were: Robert Hockham (2), Robert Wood (2) and Alec Gorton. Dave Cross scored the Burton consolation.

Grange Reserves looked as if they were going to win only their second game of the season when the experienced Tony Newell put them ahead, but Gregson grabbed an equaliser when the last kick of the game just sneaked inside the post.
