Sedgwick's hopes of a place in the last 32 of the National Village Knockout competition crashed in the regional final against Kirkby-in Furness today.
The Westmorland League side paid for a slow start by mustering only 164-8 on a good batting wicket, Nigel Gregg with 46, amassed largely during the final push for runs, was top scorer while Kirkby's Mark Etchells took 4-32.
Kirkby opener Ray Etchells (35) ensured that his side kept up with the run rate from the outset and although Sedgwick had a chance at 99-6 from 28 overs, a flurry of runs saw the visitors arrive at the last over needing two runs for victory which they achieved at 167-6.
