A FIRST sighting of South Lakeland's elusive big, black cat in 2006 has been reported by a probation officer from Millom.
The 39-year-old mother of three spotted the puma-like creature prowling around the garden of a house in the Duddon Valley as she drove her husband to work.
The Westmorland Gazette has reported more than 40 sightings of the exotic interloper over the last five years but there were just four last year with the nearest to Duddon being from Scales, near Ulverston, last July.
