Goole 2, Kendal Town 4.

Battling Kendal Town came back from 2-0 down to beat Goole 4-2 to keep their UniBond League First Division championship challenge very much alive.

It looked like being another bad day for Town when Goole scored in the 10th and 14th minute, but star winger Ged Smith, returning to the side after injury found the net in the 41st minute and two minutes later striker Chris Ward put them on terms.

Rattled Goole gave away two penalties in the second half and Lee Ashcroft struck twice from the spot to take his goal tally for the season to 22, strengthening his position as second highest scorer in the league.

Although Mossley won 2-1 at Rossendale to retain top spot, Kendal's hold on second place was aided by all their immediate rivals dropping points.

Third-placed Fleetwood and fourth-placed Bridlington battled out a 1-1 draw while fifth-placed Colwyn Bay lost 4-1 to Eastwood Town.

Next Saturday Kendal are home to Warrington Town.
