Kendal Town's UniBond League First Division match with Warrington Town was called off just an hour before kick-off today.

A morning inspection had suggested that the pitch at Town's Planet Conservatory's Parkside Road stadium was playable, but the referee controversially called the game off at 2pm despite both managers being keen to play the match.

Despite being without a game Town have, however, strengthened their grip on second place in the table, four points behind Mossley, who they play in a fortnight's time.

Kendal have 49 points from 27 games while Bridlington, on 48 have played 31.

Bridlington meanwhile beat fourth-placed Fleetwood Town, one of the main promotion contenders 3-2, leaving Fleetwood on 45 from 27 games.

Stocksbridge Park Steels, who have been storming up the league, are fifth with 44 points from 25 games. Colwyn Bay are on 44 from 28 and Gresley Rovers have 43 from 28.

Kendal's next scheduled League match is away to Warrington next Saturday.
