MOUNTAIN guide Mick Tighe, of the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, is due to visit the area next week for two lectures about the Hebridean Islands and the history of ice climbing in Scotland.

Mr Tighe, whose team operates from Fort William and covers the Ben Nevis range, will give talks at the Coronation Hall in Ulverston on Tuesday, April 15, and at the St Martin's College, Ambleside, the next day.

The Ambleside event will also involve the adventures of Millican Dalton, who lived in a cave above Grange-in-Borrow-dale.

Both events begin at 7pm and are hosed by Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team and the National Park Voluntary Warden Service, tickets £5.
