PLANS are afoot to build an external staircase and viewing platform on the north west tower of Kendal Castle.
Children have used the tower as an unofficial climbing frame, and South Lakeland District Council feels the staircase will improve access for visitors as well as reduce safety fears.
The proposed staircase and platform are still awaiting full planning approval.
