THERE were top-ten placings for two South Lakeland athletes in Saturday's four-and-a-half mile Pendle Fell Race which attracted 233 runners, writes Mike Addison.
Kendal's Joe Symonds continues to mature within the sport and was a creditable sixth, and he was followed over the line by Ambleside's Paul Singleton, who is beginning to turn in some solid performances following a winter lay off.
Staff Morland's Simon Bailey was a comfortable winner leading home Pudsey and Bramley's Gary Devine by a minute-and-a-half.
Ambleside's Jon Deegan was 13th while Helm Hill's Billy Procter had a disappointing run by his standards in 20th and fifth vet overall.
Kendal's improving Allan Miller was delighted with his 24th.
First vet was Horwich's Steve Barlow who was 11th in 34-21.
The first woman was Carnethy's Tracy Brindle who was 26th in 36-02.
