VISITORS and locals can recall the glories of Sedbergh while slaving at the kitchen sink when they wipe their pots with a souvenir tea towel.

The commemorative cloth, which depicts delights such as St Andrew's church, Brigflatts meeting house, the terrible knitters of Dent, Garsdale viaduct and Cautley spout, was the brainchild of the Chamber of Trade, which was looking for a project to promote the town and raise money for charity.

Some 500 cloths were produced in an initial run last August and more than 330 have been sold, many to locals who sent them to friends as gifts.

Local traders recently presented £250 from the profits to the Macmillan Cancer Relief Fund and there are likely to be more donations in the future.

If you wish to order a tea towel, ring Chamber of Trade tourism sub-cxommoittee chairman Lyn McLennan on 015396-21898.
