WINDY Hill Lamb from Windy Hill Farm, at Wharton, near Kirkby Stephen, took the best trade stand in the Food Hall at the Westmorland County Show.
Christine Lambert received the trophy from judges Peter Allen, chairman of the NFU Hill Farming Committee for England and Wales, and Westmorland Gazette food writer Gillian Cowburn.
Second prize went to Mrs Kirkham's Cheese from Lancashire.
Once again the Food Hall was masterminded by an amalgamation of driving forces for local food producers including Made in Cumbria, the NFU, North West Fine Foods and the Westmorland County Agricultural Society.
And yet again it proved a magnet for show visitors who took full advantage of the chance to savour the region's speciality produce including water buffalo and wild boar, free range lamb and pork and farmhouse fudge.
