MIDFIELDER Stuart Cliff netted a penalty to bag all three points for Kendal from a tricky away day to North Wales.
The goal virtually ended Colwyn Bay's hopes of a play-off place in the UniBond League First Division while boosting Kendal's own championship bid.
Kendal remain two points adrift of league leaders Mossley and both sides have three matches left to play.
Third-placed Fleetwood are a point beind Kendal, but danger side Woodley Sports, with two games in hand, lost 2-1 to Kidsgrove Athletic.
The top two teams will gain automatic promotion to the Premier Division, but the next four will to battle out an end of season play-off knock-out for the remaining promotion place.
Kendal's next match is another long away journey to Spalding United on Saturday.
