KENDAL played host to 16 male and female trainee nurses from its German twin town of Rinteln.
The purpose of their visit was to compare the general health care system in the UK with the one in Germany.
They enjoyed a tour of the Lake District, a visit to Westmorland General Hospital and they also got some instruction on the game of cricket on a trip Kendal Cricket Club.
During their week-long visit they also enjoyed a talk by Dr Barbara Tongue on her experiences during many years in east Africa as a missionary nurse.
The party stayed at the town’s youth hostel.
Later this month the Kendal Rinteln Association has organised for an all girl football team from Kendal to travel to Rinteln to take part in a competition led by Wattsfield Juniors coach Malcolm Reekie.
