A KENDAL man has been named as the UK Adventure Ambassador 2010.
Ben Dowman, 35, beat off hundreds of applicants to secure the title which will see him head to South Africa for a 10-day action packed trip.
A former rock climbing instructor who has worked all over South Lakeland as a personal trainer, Mr Dowman is set to join six other ‘ambassadors’ from the USA, Australia, Italy, France, Germany and the Netherlands on tour.
It is part of a scheme run by South African Tourism and will be filmed to appear on the National Geographic Channel some time next year.
Mr Dowman is a director of Kendal business Sugar NLP, which offers coaching, training, teaching and counselling to people.
“I’m thrilled with the role,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to heading to Africa and just seeing what happens. It is going to be an amazing trip.”
