THIEVES have targeted two women shoppers during separate incidents at supermarkets in Kendal.
The first incident happened at approximately 11am on Wednesday (September 1) at Asda, Burton Road, Kendal, when a woman reported to staff that she had been approached by an Asian middle-aged male in the carpark who had asked her for change for the trolley.
The woman said the male then tried to grab her bank card from her purse but was unable to so grabbed a 20 pound note and made off on foot towards Oxenholme Road.
On the same day a similar incident occurred at Morrisons around 11:30am, where an 81-year-old woman was returning with her friend to their car when they were approached by two foreign looking males. One of the males has been described as being in his 40's who was smartly dressed wearing a suit and tie. The other male has been described as being in his 20's of smart appearance.
The man in his 40s asked the woman if she had change for the telephone, however, she had none. The younger man then asked her friend where the dentist was.
When the two women returned home the elderly female discovered that a card wallet containing her bank cards had been taken from her coat pocket
