First night of Mint Fest

EXPERIMENTAL art really made an explosion onto the Kendal scene last night when an internationally renowned band headlined the first night of Mint Fest.

The talented Per Commandos Percu used every medium available to entertain the thousands of people who crammed into Crookland’s Showground field to watch and listen to the band’s Bombs Per Minute.

The performance united the intense music of almost drum and base dance with the frequent bangs and outburst of fireworks springing into the sky with a catalogue of colours and intensity.

Before the gig the speaker at the event warned the audience ‘this is far more than a firework display’ and he was right. This band was not only masters of percussion with the music they played but they did this in perfect harmony with the fireworks combining the intense experience of the music with the unpredictable lighting of the fireworks which made its own noise -adding the music.

However with only one exit to the field, the night ended with a disappointing metaphorical bang when thousands of people queued for hours to get out.
