CARTMEL’S Michelin starred restaurant L’Enclume features in the latest episode of new BBC comedy The Trip tonight.
In the six-part series actor Steve Coogan travels around the Lake District, Lancashire and the Yorkshire Dales with his friend, comedian Rob Brydon, to review top restaurants for The Observer.
Following a stay at the Inn at Whitewell, near Clitheroe, in the first show last week, the pair head to L’Enclume for tonight’s episode where they devour an eight-course taster menu.
Restaurant owner and head chef Simon Rogan said: “We’re obviously expecting comments on the food but as neither of them profess to be actual food critics we’re not too bothered and we can have a laugh at ourselves too.
“Of course there’s a risk taking part in a show like this but I am a big fan of theirs and it also brings the cameras of prime-time television into our area and people will get to hear about L’Enclume.
“It was great to see them ad-libbing with each other and doing their stuff so well when they were here filming earlier this year.
“They also enjoy a good drink so we all sat around and had a few beers afterwards which was nice.”
Later episodes in the series feature the Holbeck Ghyll, Windermere, and Hipping Hall near Kirkby Lonsdale.
