Steven Hall sensationally reached the Britain's Got Talent Final 2011 last night after a tense showdown with Scotland's Edward Reid.

Most of the judging panel backed wacky dancer Steven over Edward - who sang nursery rhyme lyrics to the tune of The Greatest Love of All.

Here's what the judges said on last night's show:

Amanda Holden: “Steven, I thought you were better than your audition.

"I know it’s a bit tongue in cheek but you are a really good dancer.

"I loved all the different themes. I wish to God you could sing aswell! I would love to see you in your own videos. You were brilliant tonight.”

Simon Cowell: “Maybe there’s something in the air tonight but I did actually enjoy what you did.

"It’s crazy, and, slightly sort of compelling and you seem very likeable.

"You are so at odds with your job – it could not be more grey - and then you did what you did which is probably what makes it work.

"I think the public are going to like you – well done.”

David Hasselhoff: “I don’t know where I am.

"That was the weirdest act ever – and I enjoyed it.

"It was entertaining. I don’t know that it has a place in the final.

"It’s a nice one-off thing that you could see on You Tube tomorrow. I applaud you for getting this far.”

Michael MacIntyre: “I think if Steven was in his telecommunications job now he would have put David on hold.

"I have to say that you are so entertaining. We have been trying to find someone who can equal Diversity (a dance act and previous Britain's Got Talent winners) and – Steven Hall – it could be you!”

In the final showdown, David Hasselhoff voted to keep Edward in the competition but both Amanda and Micheal went with Steven.

TV supremo Simon Cowell had the all important casting vote.

Mr Cowell said: “I’m going to go with what I believe the public will want and I’m going to go with – forgive me – Steven.”

Kendalians rejoiced at Steven's progression with Facebook and Twitter sites going into meltdown.

Steven performs again in the grand final on Saturday night on ITV1 at 7pm.
