Charity Zumba fun for Kendal fitness club

FITNESS fans in Kendal are going all out for local Motor Neurone Disease sufferers today with a two-hour charity Zumbathon.

Members of Kendal’s Rosemary Conley Diet and Fitness Clubs are taking part to coincide with a nationwide series of ‘aerobathons’ marking 40 years of the fitness instructor’s work.

The event - based on the Latin-inspired dance fitness programme Zumba - is being held in the Parish Hall, Kirkland, from 10am.

Participants are raising money for the the south Cumbria and north Lancashire branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Caytie Wightman, who has run Rosemary Conley Diet and Fitness Clubs locally since 1999, said non-members are welcome to join in too.

“As well as raising valuable funds, the event offers a great opportunity for participants to experience a fun morning of fitness,” she said.

Entry is £10 but people are invited to raise more through gaining sponsorship from family and friends.

Rosemary Conley CBE, added: “I am delighted that Rosemary Conley Diet and Fitness Clubs in the South Lakes area will be joining in this fun-filled fitness and fundraising event.

“Each year, our clubs raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity thanks to the wonderful fundraising efforts of our franchisees and their members - they really are amazing.”

Earlier this year, Ms Wightman and her team organised an aerobathon in Ulverston to raise money for North West Air Ambulance and Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

Registration for today's event is from 9.30am.
