Jason Puncheon has lifted the lid on his St Mary’s troubles – and admitted he may see out the remaining 18 months of his contract training with the youth team.

In a series of messages posted on Twitter over the weekend, the midfielder claimed he has been frozen out of the first team by chairman Nicola Cortese, not manager Nigel Adkins.

Puncheon is expected to leave St Mary’s this month, if Saints can agree a permanent transfer with another club.

But the winger has declared he is willing to train with the youth side until his contract expires in the summer of 2013 if a deal is not sorted out – meaning Saints paying first-team wages for the next year-and-a-half to a player they have no desire to use.

Puncheon wrote on Saturday night: “I’m not going no where gonna sit an train with the reserves/kids for 18months see how cortese likes that then go on free.”

He then added: “Most of u fail to understand that only reason I train with the kids is cos of nicolina not the manager.”

Responding to a supporter telling him he should speak to Cortese personally, rather than venting on the social networking site, Puncheon said: “He won’t speak to face to face that’s how much a man he is.”

And, after receiving abuse from fans over his outburst, the 25-year-old then wrote: “Funny when people talk about something they no nothing about..bunch of clowns..just laugh to myself.”

Saints declined to comment on Puncheon’s comments.
