Hawkshead Post Office - which was closed two weeks ago - is to open tommorrow.
Residents will be able to do their banking, get stamps and collect their pensions at the rural Post Office after the Post Office agreed this morning to open the service on reduced hours.
Subject to an applicant being successful in taking over the franchise, it will re-open fully in the coming months.
Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron said he is ‘over the moon’ at news and added: " I’m delighted that yet another of our community campaigns has paid off! I want to thank the Parish Council and the community for their support.
"The Post Office in the village is a vital community service – I will not stop until the village gets back its full time service again.”
The branch closed on January 25 meaning residents had to travel five miles to Ambleside and Coniston with a limited bus service.
