Ghost-busting duo investigate spooky venues in South Lakeland

IF there's something strange in your neighbourhood, who you gonna call? South Lakeland’s ghost busters, that’s who!

Two men have joined forces to create the Ghost Hunters the Over Sands Team to investigate paranormal activity in pubs, houses and hotels.

Martin Gregory, 39, of The Crescent, Grange-over-Sands, has had an interest in the world of the supernatural since he was ten.

He said it all began after he watched a documentary on techniques to observe the paranormal – but it was only when he became friends with fellow fanatic Scott Craig, 31, of Barrow, three-years-ago that he decided to form an active ghost hunting organisation.

They now scour Cumbria using high-tech equipment to investigate unexplained goings-on.

And so far the duo has been successful – coming across spooky happenings in a variety of places across South Lakeland.

“The scariest encounter was in a hotel car park,” said Martin, who uses night vision, electro-magnetic frequencies and electronic voice equipment to seek out ‘apparitions’.

“We heard footsteps following us but when we turned around there was no one there.” He claimed that during a night at Cumbria's oldest pub — the Kirkstone Pass Inn, near Ambleside — a woman became possessed by a deceased family member while the ghost hunters were calling for any lost souls to come forward.

“We heard a sudden bang on the window, but when we looked outside there was no one there” said Martin. “Then the woman said she thought a family member had made con-tact.”

He said quite often they used specialist equipment to record rooms in haunted properties for an entire night to try to pick up any paranormal activity.

“It takes a lot of time listening back to everything but we do hear voices that at the time weren't there,” he said.

Quite of a lot of the venues do not like to promote their supernatural ‘friends’, he added. But people would be surprised by how many Cumbria properties had a presence.

The ghost hunters want to hear from anyone who thinks their home may be haunted so that they can investigate.

Anyone interested should call Martin on 01539-533466.

Tell me about it, halfway through sanding a banister with only sandpaper.

I used to be a skeptic, but things started happening in my house that were unexplained. You do have to see something's before you can believe them.
