Mike Tomlinson launching the walk plan
WINDERMERE will come alive in September as walkers take part in a new mass participation walk.
The Jane Tomlinson Walk For All Lake District Walking Festival will give people an opportunity to walk either 18, 13 or 4.5 miles on routes put together by the national park authority to support the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, established to raise funds for children’s and cancer charities.
Mrs Tomlinson lost her own battle with the disease in 2007 but her family are determined to continue her work.
Her husband Mike said: “We’ve done four big runs but wanted to do more encompassing so we thought there would be a market for such walks.
“Walkers will get food beforehand and will be looked after. We walked a lot in the Lake District as a family so it seems a great thing to do.”
