A PUBLIC exhibition detailing proposals for a single wind turbine at Back Lane Quarry in Carnforth is to be held in Over Kellet.

Aggregate Industries and AGRenewables say that the proposed turbine will generate electricity to be used on site at Back Lane Quarry.

A Power Purchase Agreement will be put in place to ensure that any surplus low-carbon electricity fed into the grid is used at other Aggregate Industries sites across the UK.

Geoff Storey, Estates Manager at Aggregate Industries’ Back Lane Quarry, said: “As a local employer with a national customer base, we value the relationships we build with the communities in which we work.

“We operate an open communications policy with the community neighbouring the quarry and we will carry this through the planning process for the wind turbine.

“As a company we are committed to sustainable construction and reducing the carbon footprint of the products we produce and transport. Renewable energy projects like the one at Back Lane will play an important role in helping us achieve this.”

“We have already received positive feedback regarding the proposed wind turbine, via our consultation website, and look forward to meeting local residents at our public exhibition.”

This exhibition will be held at Over Kellet Village Hall from 4-6.30pm on June 14.
