'Worst of the weather in Cumbria is over', says Environment Agency
2:42pm Saturday 23rd June 2012 in News
By Daniel Orr, Reporter
EXPERTS are confident that Cumbria is over the worst of the flooding it has experienced in the past 24 hours.
Speaking at 2.30pm, Suzanne Hughes, Environment Agency regional communications manager, said: "We think the worst is over.
"We think that the river levels have got as high as they are going to get - the rivers have pretty much reached a plateau now.
"But we have to keep looking at that so people should stay vigilant and keep an eye on each other and their properties."
