REVIEWED - Linkin Park / Maroon 5 / Jedward REVIEWED - Linkin Park / Maroon 5 / Jedward

LINKIN PARK - Living Things

CONTINUING their mission to successfully cross the rock-rap-pop divide, Linkin Park return with their fifth album.

They are perhaps best known for Numb / Encore, their 2004 hit collaboration with Jay-Z, and What I’ve Done, which shot them into the stratosphere.

With 12 tracks produced by the legendary Rick Rubin, this is edgy music which will please their legions of fans.

MAROON 5 - Overexposed

MAROON 5 take an experimental hardcore psychedelic jazz-blues-dub direction on their latest album.

Only kidding. Overexposed features more of the same easy listening middle of the road rock we’ve come to expect from this American five-piece.

Sales could be affected by the fact that it doesn’t include their biggest hit to date, Moves Like Jagger, which was re-released to such excitement in the UK at the end of last year.

JEDWARD - Young Love

Oh dear - that’s the best I can say about this album by X Factor failures Jedward.

They’ve tried to recreate themselves by getting rid of their ridiculous brushed-back hair and replacing it with ridiculous brushed-forward hair.

Whether it works or not is anybody’s guess, but they’re banking their career on the hope that their Justin Bieber-clone songs will appeal to many a teeny-bopper.

I have to ask, did you actually listen to the Jedward album or just dismiss it because it had it JEDWARD written on the front or maybe you were si distracted by their hair on the cover, you decided to just review that?
I actually own the this album and have listened to it all the way through, several times, so I can tell you it’s a very good album for anyone who likes good, well-made pop music, there is a huge variety of styles on there, from the beautiful balleds like "Young love" and "what it feels like" to the ethereal David Guettaesk "Luminous" With plenty of feel good, upbeat numbers like "Happens in the Dark" in-between.
As for the twins banking their career on the album, with a TV series running in Ireland and two about the run the UK I very much doubt it, but if they are, then its faring well, the album has charted in FIVE European countries, despite zero promotion, and has gone straight to number 1 in Ireland. Their 3rd consecutive album to do so.

I wouldn't exactly called John and Edward X Factor failures as they've been touring extensively for the last 3 years learning their business throughout Europe. This is also their third album and in my opinion their best. It shows a developing maturity musically and vocally. Anyone who still doubts their singing talent should check out their cover of Boyfriend on Youtube. They also make their own videos to accompany the songs from Young Love - how many boybands do that? The ballards on this album will surprise a lot of people. Heck they even surprised me - in a good way. My favourite How Did You Know has a mature and emotional vocal with great strings. Overall the album is fun and lively and is perfect for the summer.

Did you actually listen to the Jedward album or judge the entire thing based on your description of the album artwork?
How Did You Know? is my favourite as well, never thought my favourite Jedward song would end up being a country ballad! Although I do love Luminous, POV and .....actually all of them and the tracks that are only on iTunes! Cool Heroes is just fab.

I don't even like Jedward, but it doesn't take a genious to work out that to review music you need to talk about the actual music, and not the manufacturing!

Oh dear indeed - not to Jedward's new album but to this review page! Absolutely awful. Doesn't seem like you would have listened to any of the three albums but maybe played the first few seconds of each track...

Plus I think Linkin Park's fans would probably argue that they were already "in the strasophere" long before What I've done (on their 3rd album) due to songs such as Crawling and One Step Closer from their first album.

I understand you're not a music magazine but if you're going to do reviews as least make them helpful and unbiased!
