Kendal man appears in court for trying to spy on changing schoolgirl

A MAN from Kendal appeared at Carlisle Crown Court accused of trying to spy on a schoolgirl while she was changing at a South Cumbrian swimming pool.

Christopher Townson, 25, of Jenkin Rise, Kendal, was accused of “attempting to observe a person doing a private act” in order to obtain sexual gratification.

The charge alleged that on June 2 last year he tried to observe the girl “in a place and in circumstances which could reasonably be expected to provide privacy” when her “body was clothed in a bikini”.

Townson pleaded not guilty and will go on trial on October 9.

In the meantime he was allowed bail on condition that he does not go to any swimming pool changing areas.
