Walker trampled on by cattle, near Shap

A COAST to coast walker had to be airlifted to hospital after he was trampled on by cattle, near Shap.

The Pride of Cumbria, based at Langwathby was called, at 10:15am on Sunday (September 2), to assist a 48-year-old man who had been knocked down and stood on by cattle.

Crews assessed him at the scene before airlifting him to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle for treatment.

He had sustained lacerations to his head, chest and arms with bruising.
