Honeymooners distraught after camera theft in Kendal

A COUPLE who were honeymooning in the Lake District were left distraught after a camera with photos of their wedding was stolen in Kendal, police have said.

The Fuji Film Finepix 6.3 megapixel camera contained a memory card with several photos of their happy day and stay in the Lakes.

The couple told police they had accidentally dropped the camera while at Kendal Castle on Friday, at about 12.55am, and upon realising it was missing, retraced their steps but could not find it.

They have appealed through police to the person who apparently took the camera to hand the memory card in at their local police station.

The camera is described as having a brown fascia, silver edging and a zoom lens.

Anyone with information should contact Cumbria Police on 101.

is it really a theft if you *lose* your camera and are unable to find it? if someone found it they could be searching the owner right at this moment...or it could be sitting in long grass somewhere still! jus' sayin'

Not sure what they were doing up at the castle at that time of night! Presumably it would be pitch black up there so the camera could be anywhere.

They lost the camera, unfair to call it theft!

If someone has found it they should hand it in to the police, but it could be that it's rolled into undergrowth and still be where they dropped it.

The castle is a popular spot at that time of the night and not for the reason you're think of

There is no evidence to support that it has been stolen, it was dropped in the pitch black, relaying steps is never a guarantee of finding it, it could still be there

Here's a thought, if you'd found it would hand it into the police asap, I would like to think so but realistically for me it would of been next weekend to get to the police station to hand it in, mintfest took up the weekend and away during week.

Bit too early to jump the gun and say it's been stolen

well, if I had found a camera, the first place I would check is the westmorland gazette to see if I was a wanted criminal :P

Not sure what you are getting at Lakeuk, I was just querying why they were up at the Castle in the dark and possibly wet at that time of night. If they were on their honeymoon I presume they had somewhere warmer and drier to do what I presume you are implying which I was not!

They do get very confused over grammar and spelling, so I would not be surprised .....

I totally agree this is a camera that is LOST not stolen. Lets get the facts straight. Also when it dropped it could have rolled anywhere up there or in the dark been kicked off anywhere by someone who would or could not have seen it in the dark, even by the couple themselves.

It is distressing to lose camera and photos especially honeymoon. Never mind though they could do a 'honeymoon take 2' :) Like we did when our honeymoon camera (35mm) decided to snarl up 36 photos of our honeymoon trip:(

I bet retracing their movements to try and find it were fun dodging all the dog poo up there!
