First of all I'd just like to say that I really hope the person is going to be ok!
And secondly, after what has happened recently on this road, could the gazette please get the facts correct!! It was not a car!

I really despair over the quality of the Gazette reporting these days...

I once fractured my pelvis, so I hope the driver makes a quick recovery, as it is really uncomfortable!

"collided" isn't this usually used to refer to two *moving* objects hitting each other?

No, it just means striking (usually with force) another object.. which does not have to be moving - although usually inanimate objects often are moving in insurance claim forms!
