Adventurous South Lakeland people are being called upon to sign up for a scary fundraiser.

The Big Skydive will raise vital funds for the free, confidential helpline ChildLine, which is celebrating its 25th birthday this year.

It takes place on Saturday, October 13, at Cark Airfield, near Grange-over-Sands.

Cumbria fund-raising manager Wendy Bates said: “Perhaps you want to confront your fear of heights or maybe you’re marking a milestone birthday. Whatever your reason, your support will enable us to train more counsellors and answer more calls for help.”

Solo or tandem skydives are available and participants must be over the age of 16. No experience is necessary as full training will be given – and the jump is free if you raise sponsorship of £395.

Wendy added: “ChildLine is here to offer confidential support to children and young people whenever they need it.

“One third of the children who contacted us last year had no one else to turn to.”

Registration closes on Friday, September 23. Anyone can sign up online at www.nspcc.org.uk/thebigskydive Or, to find out more, call the local fundraising team on 0191 227 5300.or email north-eastappeals@nspcc.org.uk
