Rescue mission at Coniston

A 45-YEAR-OLD man had to be rescued from a quarry in the South Lakes after getting into trouble.
The incident happened at Hodge Close Quarry, Coniston, on Friday at about 5pm.
The Great North Air Ambulance worked closely with Coniston Mountain Rescue Team to treat and rescue the man, of Frizington, who had fallen about 20 ft whilst abseiling in the quarry.
He suffered a broken leg and was flown to the Preston Royal infirmary in a stable condition.
