GREEN-fingered Kendal and Burneside residents will be able to recycle plastic and cardboard more easily thanks to a council pilot.
South Lakeland District Council will collect items from the kerbside in a six-month trial starting on October 15.
The 7,500 affected properties in the trial area will receive a clear sack for plastic materials, which will be replaced after each collection, while cardboard can be placed in the current blue paper recycling box.
The items will be collected with glass, cans and paper on the normal recycling collection day.
Councillor Clare Feeney-Johnson, portfolio holder for the environment, said: “The council is pleased that the six month trial for the kerbside collection of plastic and cardboard can now go ahead.
“This trial is important and will help the council make decisions about recycling in the future.
“I am urging all the householders taking part to recycle as much plastic and cardboard as possible and to let us know what they think of the service.”

The first story was saying the council planned to discuss the matter, this one is saying that SLDC’s cabinet members have agreed to the plans so the scheme will now go ahead.
In regards to 2010 budget story the paper has no control over ‘the most read’ section. This is determined by the viewers. Although the story has not been reposted there may have been a link made to the story by another media which caused the unexpected surge in views.
Hope that helps.
