Kendal hotel owner seeks help to find escaped parrot
10:48am Thursday 20th September 2012 in News
AN EXOTIC run-away Africian parrot is on the loose in Kendal.
Ian Thomas, of the Highgate Hotel, is keen to trace his grey feathered talkative bird after it escaped last week.
Rioja's cage was opened so Mr Thomas could feed his pet. He walked away to get the food when the bird suddenly made his flight for freedom.
To find Rioja, Mr Thomas has been putting up signs around the town. He said someone on Captain French Lane reported seeing the parrot in his garden but did not manage to catch him.
"He's not going to fly that far," said Mr Thomas. "He won't last long, he thinks cats are there to play with. He has picked up some very strange phrases from watching the television."
Mr Thomas is appealing for anyone who sees Rioja to call him on 07702966564.
