Successful author launches nature website

A KENDAL naturalist has launched a new website on the back of her successful 2008 book about Scout Scar in Kendal.
After discovering that the printing and publication costs would be too costly to launch a new book, Jan Wiltshire launched the new site to provide an up-to-date view on Lake District locations she has visited.
Her hugely popular book ‘About Scout Scar’ outsold J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter books in Kendal’s Waterstones shop for four months after a Westmorland Gazette review of it in August 2008.
‘A Lakeland Experience’ provides the core of the website, which includes maps and an introduction to Langdale, Kentdale, Ullswater and Derwent - four places she has visited over the past four years.
Jan also plans to regularly update a blog on the site.
“The website is a different way of presenting my work and it is enabling me to revisit some of the places I have explored before, including Scout Scar,” she said.
