Eight interpretive panels to be erected on Ullswater shore

EIGHT interpretive information panels are soon to be installed along the shores of Ullswater.
The panels – detailing the history, wildlife, settlements and landscape of the lake – are being put up next month at key locations in time for the arrival of the Autumn colours.
Each panel concentrates on a specific aspect of life in and around Ullswater from the rocky heights of Glenridding to the rolling farmland around Pooley Bridge. But they all contain valuable visitor information about contacting local rangers, finding out the weather forecast and timetables for public transport.
While the project has been led by the Lake District National Park Authority partnership, contributions have come from Eden District Council, Ullswater Steamers, and Ullswater Lake Safety and Rescue Association.
LDNPA Design and Interpretation Co-ordinator James Cook thought the panels would make a wonderful addition to people’s enjoyment of the lake.
“Because Ullswater has so much to offer visitors it was difficult choosing what to highlight on the panels, but I’m very pleased with the finished result. I know the public will appreciate the lake even more after they’ve used the information on the panels,” he said.
