TWO elderly people have been left shocked and upset after they were tied up by robbers in their own home.
The pensioners home on Castle Oval in Kendal was broken into at 10pm last night by a group of men, who stole a 'substantial' amount of cash and goods from them.
For a time, the road was closed off by detectives who have launched an investigation.
Detective Sergeant Mark Kerley said: “This was a particularly nasty incident that has left a elderly couple shocked and upset. The victims weren’t physically injured and are being cared for by family and supported by police.
“We are during the early stages of our investigation but witnesses that have come forward so far believe that a grey or silver estate car was in the area around the time that this incident took place and may have been involved.
“We are committed to finding those who did this so that we can bring them to justice. Police enquiries are continuing today and we will be examining CCTV throughout the area and speaking to local residents and businesses but need the community to help us.
“If you remember seeing anything out of the ordinary – or if you can remember seeing a grey, silver or light coloured estate-type car, please call us immediately. You may not think that your information is important but it may prove to be vital.”
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
