Kendal chef triples school dinner take up at South Lakes school

A CHEF who has tripled uptake of school dinners at a Kendal primary has been shortlisted in this year’s 2012 Educatering Awards.

To celebrate his achievement, Paul Cudby served up roast beef and all the trimmings for children at St Thomas’s School.

The 42-year-old joined the school in September last year and has increased the number of pupils eating school meals from 50 to 150 – and the number is continuing to rise.

Paul said he prides himself on cooking ‘healthy, interesting, and highly-nutritious meals for children and staff’ in a restaurant-style table service.

He has been nominated in the best newcomer category at the awards which he will attend with his wife – St Thomas’s School teacher Polly Cudby – at the Kensington Garden Hotel in London on October 15.

I wish they did that at my children's school, but at £1.90 a day and I have 3 children it isn't worth it. If the meals were really good though I would pay that sort of money!
