Update: Six arrested after death of man with stab wounds

Detectives are continuing to piece together events which led to a Polish man being attacked and killed in Carlisle on Sunday morning.

Six people have been arrested in connection with the death of 32-year-old Piotr Kulinski on Arnside Road, and remain in custody.

Warrants of further detention have been obtained from Carlisle Magistrates' Court to keep the five suspects who were arrested first in custody.

Police and paramedics were called to the address at around 6am following reports that a man had been stabbed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

House to house enquiries have been completed, four vehicles have been seized for forensic examination, five premises have been searched and members of the public have spoken to investigating officers.

Police are encouraging police to come forward and speak to officers about the circumstances leading up to the incident

DCI Paul Duhig said: “We believe that some members of the Polish community are aware of what happened to escalate a situation which ended in tragic circumstances.

"We are offering support to any member of the public who has information which could assist in the investigation.

"It is vital that we piece together everything which happened in order to gain a clear picture of the events which unfolded that led to Mr Kulinski’s death."
