Sheep drowns in river after being 'chased by terrier dog'

A SHEEP drowned after it was reportedly chased into the River Eden by a dog, police have said.

Officers received reports of the animal running away from a terrier type dog around 10.45am on Sunday, September 30, around 500 metres from Eden Bridge.

Police are now trying to trace the owner of the dog, pictured above swimming in the river.

If anyone witnessed the incident or can identify the dog and its owner, contact PC 1099 Goodall on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Looks to have too long ears to be an otter.. but it is hard to tell from that picture!
