JOBS at Ulverston's main employer should be safe despite a company 'restructure'.
GlaxoSmithKline announced today (Thursday) it want to reduce costs in its Research and Development sector with some industry insiders predicting 4,000 job losses in order to save £500 million by 2012.
But Ulverston's North Lonsdale Road factory does not have R&D facilities, so workers are able to breath a huge sigh of relief.
A GSK spokeswoman said: "Where possible, we will continue to try to preserve jobs.
"As before, we will not be providing targets for job reductions and we will announce restructuring outcomes once employees, relevant works councils and trade unions have been consulted."
