A LEVEL crossing gate in Grange-over-Sands is still broken more than four months after it was reported to Network Rail, according to councillors.

Grange Town Council contacted the rail infrastructure company about the state of the gates at Bayley Lane crossing in March.

According to councillors, several springs on the gate are damaged causing it to blow open. However, despite inspections by both Network Rail and Her Majesty’s Rail Inspectorate (HMRI), the gate is still broken.

Speaking at a meeting of the town council, Coun Robin Webster said the gates still did not shut properly and Coun Tony Coles suggested shooting a video of the gate to send to HMRI to prove their point.

From 1997 to 2000 we lived on Morecambe Bank/Bayley Lane and we regularly made small repairs to these gates.
So sorry to learn they are so neglected now. It would be a shame to see this crossing closed.
