MOTORISTS who use a supermarket car park as a free long-stay car park will no longer be able to do so following a planning decision.
Planning chiefs at Lancaster City Council have permitted Booth’s Supermarket, in Market Street, Carnforth, to introduce a maximum permitted-stay period – the duration of which is yet to be agreed.
The decision was made after the supermarket complained it had been suffering a loss of parking spaces when more commuters began using the car park following the introduction of a parking tariff at Carnforth Train Station.
